“Jazve Talks” Podcast

Lucy (an Armenian-American journalist) and Sona (an Armenian LGBTIQ activist from Sevan) are a queer, non-binary Armenian couple living in Yerevan. They plan to launch a video podcast series called “Jazve Talks.” The idea is to invite (offline or online) Armenian women, trans and gender-queer writers, artists, activists, researchers, and filmmakers into their kitchen for conversations about their work over a cup of coffee. The aim is to provide a platform to highlight and make visible their work, which is largely overlooked both by Armenian society and by international outlets. The kitchen itself has historically been a safe space where Armenian women could freely express themselves. In Armenian, the word “khohanots” (“kitchen”) already carries the meaning of “thinking” (khohel) and “reflecting.” The interviews will mainly be in English with Armenian subtitles.
