On October 1, 2010, 20-year-old Zaruhi Petrosyan died as a result of a severe beating by her husband. This was by no means the only case in Armenia, but it shocked the public with its brutality and publicity of the case. After the incident, a number of non-governmental organizations concerned with the issue of domestic violence joined together to create the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women, which demanded a fair trial, prevention of domestic violence, and regulation of the legal framework. Since that day, every year the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women marks October 1st as the “National Day Against Domestic Violence.”
On this occasion, the Women’s Fund Armenia announces a grant call, the purpose of which is to support the implementation of the events organized on October 1.
REMEMBER that events can be of all kinds!
Women’s and feminist organizations, initiatives and individuals can apply for this grant.
